Information:
In 2004 I had applied to the Columbia University School of the Arts MFA Visual Arts Program. I got rejected. I applied again for several additional years. 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015. I kept getting rejected. My intent was to apply for 20 years. My intent was that on the 21st year applying I was going to have twenty rejection letters as my twenty images in my portfolio.
In 2011, Columbia University School of the Arts got too cheap to mail a paper rejection letter and they began sending rejections via email.
For the 2016 admissions, Columbia University School of the Arts informed me via email that I could not apply to the program if I’ve been rejected three consecutive years in row. This was never the case in years prior. I wonder if they changed the rules because of me? We’ll never know. So, Columbia University School of the Arts ruined my plans to have a portfolio of twenty years of rejection letters. If I had applied twenty years in a row, this work would have been officially completed today. Together; the application process and the rejection letters is now considered an art work by me, David Greg Harth. The art work is called “Rejected Rejection.”
